Performance lecture, 7th Experimental Scent Summit 2026, Athens, Greece
The Excited Pig is a recipe from The Futurist Cookbook, written by F.T. Marinetti and Luigi Columbo in 1932. “A whole salami, skinned, is served upright on a dish containing some very hot black coffee mixed with a good deal of Eau de Cologne.”
For the Experimental Scent Summit, I remade the Excited Pig using 2 fragrances – Trump Empire, and Burnt Hair from The Boring Company (owned by Elon Musk). Then I added the gold Trump head, which is the cap from a bottle of Trump’s Victory cologne, to the top of the salami.
The Experimental Scent Summit is co-curated by the Institute for Art and Olfaction (LA) and Smell Lab (Berlin). Each yearly Summit is an opportunity for researchers, artists, and perfumers – or others who are interested in olfaction – to meet and share what they’re working on. For the 7th Summit, I did this presentation in collaboration with Hannah Marie Marcus. We had been working on separate projects that were part of our olfactory practices but also were informed by what turned out to be overlapping political concerns. Equal parts performance, high-speed history lesson, and artist’s recap, we touched on Futurism, fascism, the journey of citrus medica, and the vibrancy of matter.
